Marvell Technology bar again increases met's world's first 1.5 GHz Tri-Core Processor deliver Dual Stream 1080p 3D video for smartphones and tablets

Game Changer: Ultra-low power, ultra-high performance ARMADA three-core processor to function in a way 3D graphics performance with quad unified shaders for 200 million triangles per second delivered on mobile devices

Santa Clara, California, September 23,/PRNewswire/--Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL), a global leader in integrated solutions for Silicon, today's world's first 1.5 GHz tri-core application processor, the Marvell ® ARMADA ™ 628 introduced. This product is equipped with a complete system-on-a-chip (SoC) design with three powerful Marvell designed, ARM-compliant CPU cores als's world's first commercially available, multi-core, heterogeneous applications processor.

"Marvell has once again the benchmark for the rest of the world's first 1 met's industry. 5 GHz tri-core processor, dual stream 1080p 3D video and 3D graphics performance with quad unified shaders for 200 million triangles per second delivered on ultra-low-power, long battery life smartphones and tablets, "said Weili Dai, Marvell co-founder and Vice President and General Manager, Marvell Semiconductor of consumer and Computing Business Unit." This is important because the consumer expects robust enterprise and consumer applications of the delivered to the Palm of their hand.Marvell is uniquely equipped to lead this revolution as the semiconductor industry mobile one-stop-shop solution provider. This is a preview machine entry for Marvell the unique opportunity to a portfolio of different cutting edge technology and integrate it into differentiated solutions to our customers game-changing advantage. "

The new ARMADA 628 tri-core processor contains a number of advanced processing and power management features. The Tri-core design integrates two symmetric multiprocessing cores of high performance and a third basic optimized for ultra low-power. the third core has been designed to support the users of routine tasks as well as serving as a system management processor to check and dynamic scale power and performance. The Tri-core architecture provides superior performance and a lower on dual-core designs while maintaining compatibility of the industry and leadership-ensuring, where appropriate, an experience richer and smoother and faster than any other arm-based processor available today.

"The Marvell ground-breaking tri-core architecture is a unique solution for a long time problem-how to maximize the performance of the company without breaking the budget is limited ability of smartphones, tablets and other mobile consumer devices," said Linley Gwennap, principal analyst of the Linley Group. "With the Marvell ARMADA 628, allows consumers to better visually, dynamic experiences in a series of new mobile devices."

The architecture is similar to a hybrid muscle car Armada. 628 is meant for carrying out of a race car engine on-demand, and still offers the most frugal gas mileage of a hybrid car.In real terms this may be the ARMADA 628 playing more than 10 hours full 1080p HD video and 140 hours of music on a single charge, while still being 3 GHz raw computational HORSEPOWER.

The Marvell ARMADA 628 tri-core CPU includes a complete SoC design-a first for the industry. in addition to the tri-core CPU there are six additional processing engines to support the stunning 3D graphics, 1080p video encode/decode, ultra high-fidelity audio, advanced cryptography, and the processing of the data of the digital photo-for a total of nine specific core functions.

The ARMADA 628 is also designed to be the first mobile CPU with high speed connectivity USB 3.0, offers 10 x faster than USB 2.0.

About ARMADA 628
